Welcome Dinner - Sunday October 10
Sunday evening’s pre-tournament Welcome Dinner will once again be held at the Wynfrey Hotel. Join us for a southern-style dinner, great live and silent auctions, entertainment and special presentations, including the announcement of the winner of the Second Annual Nucor Simon the Loving Lion Challenge.
The Welcome Dinner is complimentary for all registered sponsors and players of the tournament (plus one guest); however, advance reservations are requested. Additional tickets may be purchased for guests who are not playing in the tournament.
Fourth Annual Nucor Alabama Children’s Charity Classic presented by Kelco Metals– Monday October 11
Tee off with us Monday morning at Oxmoor Valley, one of the signature courses on the beautiful Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Since its inception in 2007, the Nucor Alabama Children’s Charity Classic has raised more than $680,000 for Children’s Hospital. Thank you to the outstanding vendors, customers and employees of Nucor Alabama for their tremendous support. Nucor Alabama is now the largest corporate event donor to Children’s.
Nucor Alabama Simon the Loving Lion Challenge
Not a golfer? You can still participate! As a part of our annual corporate golf fundraiser, Nucor raises money for the Simon the Loving Lion ministry. Simon is a stuffed lion, designed with children in mind to provide them with a concrete symbol of God’s love and care, even in times of difficulty. With a gift as small as $20, the Simon the Loving Lion Challenge provides Nucor employees, customers, and vendors an opportunity to be a part of what Pastoral Care does for the patients and families at Children’s Hospital.
Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa and its employees won the inaugural “Simon the Loving Lion Challenge” by raising more than $2,800 to purchase 140 Simon, the Loving Lionstuffed animals for ill and injured patients at Children’s Hospital. With the support of all Nucor Alabama employees, customers, and vendors, we were able to purchase a total of 935 lions with the first Challenge. The goal for this year is 1,000 lions!
